#LiddellProudMoment – Winners of our Housekeeper Competition Announced

Our luxury product range, now synonymous with exclusive hotels and spas, celebrated a milestone birthday earlier this year – a massive 150!

Our famous Irish linen name originated on the banks of the River Lagan all the way back in 1866 when William Liddell set up his first factory at the age of 36. Since then, the finest luxury Liddell linens have been seen across the four corners of the globe adorning everything from hotel suites to airlines.

To honour the birth of the Liddell name, Vision has been holding a whole host of year-long celebrations including a luxury trip on the Belmond British Pullman which saw guests take a luxurious trip around the Kent countryside alongside a delicious array of fine dining cuisine and indulging in champagne.

To memorialise the brand’s ties to the RMS Titanic, a limited edition collectors set of Titanic replica table linen was crafted and displayed at exclusive events and exhibits throughout the year, with a view to going on sale later in 2016.

So how does a brand last 150 years? The answer to that question is simple. Always make your customers feel special, never the lower the standards of the product – and always have time for your people.

With this philosophy in mind, earlier this year we launched an exclusive competition for housekeepers across the UK. Because turning 150 is a proud moment for Vision, we asked housekeepers what their proud moment has been, tagging all submissions with #LiddellProudMoment. Seeking to find out what inspires the people who use the luxury Liddell hotel linen on a daily basis, the competition asked housekeepers to send photos in showcasing what made them proud each month – from celebrity drop-ins to working with their colleagues.

Each month since April, our judges chose a monthly winner from each hotel group who won a select bottle of champagne and, with the competition officially closing last week, it was down to our judges to choose an overall winner from each group.

The top prize was a luxury spa break for two at the Monart Hotel & Spa in Ireland with the champions being announced via the Liddell social media channels last week.

The winners are:

InterContinental Hotels Group winner – Crowne Plaza Heathrow

The judges simply couldn’t ignore the Crowne Plaza’s photo which showcased the years that staff members have worked for the group. The amount of long-serving staff was highly impressive – with some working for the hotel in excess of 35 years.

Bourne Leisure winner – Haven Weymouth Bay Holiday Park

Our judges loved how comfy Accommodation Manager Debbie looked in the soft and fluffy Haven bedding and thought she might enjoy a few nights underneath luxury bedding as opposed to laying it.

Hilton Hotels & Resorts winner – Hilton Hotel Reading

Richard from consistent from the get-go in entering the Hilton Hotel Reading each month. Each month he picked a new and exciting moment that he was proud of but it was the true loyalty and dedication to his team that the judges chose him as the Hilton winner. He unwaveringly championed his staff and their achievements and this was enough of a Proud Moment for our panel!

Independent Hotels winner – Wood Hall Hotel & Spa from Hand Picked Hotels

Having recently stepped into the industry and into the role as Housekeeping Manager at Wood Hall Hotel & Spa, James has excelled at the responsibilities given to him including joining the UKHA as a committee member and helping to organise the Yorkshire and North East region summer ball. Our judges thought this was a great achievement and definitely something to feel proud of.
